Better not pout...

Andrew's bottom lip has been working hard lately...since I had my camera handy this past weekend with our visitors, I caught him poking his lip out more than once! We may need to call Santa.

Visit with Santa

We took Andrew to see Santa a little early this year at the mall in Wichita. He was so very excited the whole way down there. However, when Andrew saw Santa, he shook his head and ran in the opposite direction. Thankfully, David was able to talk him into sitting in his lap. This was the only picture that I got with my camera of the event. This was right after David gave Andrew to Santa.
On a note related to taking Andrew to see Santa, when we were leaving there was a woman waiting in the parking lot for our parking spot. Can you believe she HONKED at us as if we were taking too long to get Andrew, my mom, my sister, David, and myself into the car and buckled up? I turned around to look at the woman and she was cursing us! Technically, the parking spot was still ours...my car was still in it. Obviously she is neither thankful nor filled with the spirit of Christmas. That woman needs to remember the reason for the season. How dare she!

Visit with Nana and Aunt Sarah

We were so glad to have Aunt Sarah and Nana in town to visit for Thanksgiving, and we are now so sad that they are now on their way home. Here are some pictures from our visit together. We went bowling, shopping, played outside, toured the salt mine, went to Yoder, and just spent time together.

Not My Day...

Today is not my day. I was running late this morning because I asked David to wake me up in "five more minutes" knowing I needed the extra time because I would be taking Andrew to school. Well, this morning was the first REALLY cold morning of winter in KS. When I finally got Andrew dressed with his gloves, hat, and show and share item, it was 16 degrees in my car! I left for work ten minutes late this morning, and I hoped to make up the time with my speedy driving skills. A little background about my vehicle...the gas gage mysteriously stopped working about three months ago. Since then, I just keep up with how many miles I have driven on the odometer. When I get to about 350 miles, I stop and fill my tank. Since I was in such a rush, I did not look at my mileage this morning...Anyway, I am driving along the highway when I look down and realize I have put over 400 miles on my car since my last fill up. About that time (going 70 mph), lights fill my dash, and my car shuts off. Oh darn--I am nowhere near a gas station, and I have to be at work in five minutes. In the rush of the morning, I FORGOT MY CELL PHONE. So, I start walking down the highway, wondering what I am going to do. I come to a church, and I go inside (thank the Lord it was unlocked). There is no one there, and all of the offices there are locked. I find a Sunday School room and call two of the people here at work that I don't mind asking to bring me gas and assistance. They are NOT AT THEIR DESKS! I page on of them, and they assure me that someone will be coming for me. YES! I leave the church, and I start walking back down the highway to my car...mind you 18 wheelers, school buses, and the like are almost blowing me into the ditch on this freezing, cold morning. I return to my car and wait for traffic to pass so that I can get back in without getting hit. I sit and wait. It is so cold. I wait some more. Here comes an oversized load 18-wheeler...oh, please don't hit me!! Many moments later, I see a sparkling, shiny Cadillac that resembles the car driven by the president of our company. Oh, yes...not only does he know what I have done, he has come to save me! He brought gas too! He follows me to the nearest gas station...5 miles down the road where I fill up! After returning to work, an hour late, I call the Toyota place to see if they can fix my gas gage...they have never heard of this happening on a car that is only 2 years old. It is now 1:00 p.m., and they just called to let me know that it looks like mice chewed through the wiring, and it will be about $100. That will be money well spent. I can not believe this happened, however I am thankful that I am still alive and I still have a job!!

Water Deer

(David called me on his way home today, and I asked him to talk to Andrew and pretend he was Santa Claus. Andrew really believed he was talking to Santa Claus...his eyes lit up, and he got shy which meant he was a little nervous. They had a great conversation. So, David gets home and I asked Andrew to tell David who called him this afternoon. Here is how it went...)
David: "Who called you this afternoon?"
Andrew: "Santa."
David: "Did you tell him what you wanted for Christmas?"
Andrew: "Yes."
David: "What else did ya'll talk about?"
Andrew: "Santa told me that he liked to ride with his water deer."
(David and I both look at each other...puzzled.)
David: "Sanata likes to ride with his what?"
Andrew: "Santa rides with his WATER DEER!"
David: "Oh!!! You mean he rides with his Rain Deer (Reindeer)!!"
Andrew: "Yeah, that is what I meant."

46 Days to Great Wolf Lodge

46 Days to Vacation at Great Wolf Lodge in Kansas City, KS! David, Andrew, and I are going to Great Wolf Lodge to enjoy their indoor water park! We finally found a time to go when the room rates were reasonable. We can't wait. This will be our first vacation in a long time!! I can't wait to see if Andrew's swimming lessons at the YMCA have paid off! Andrew will have his own little kiddie cave in our room with bunk beds and a tv...I posted a picture of it above.

Show and Share ~ Letter "K"

Andrew did not enjoy being taken away from Curious George to take pictures tonight...I did not have much to work with, either. Again, I am without my camera due to David's friends being in town to hunt. As you can sort of see from the photo above, Andrew is taking "K"ing from the movie "Cars." I tried to go into the basement and get one of the wisemen from my nativity scene, but the light and the flashlight were broken...the wisemen weren't kings, but I think at least one of them has on a crown. That would count, right? The letter "K" was not really easy because so many things that sound like "K" start with "C" and vise versa. That is hard to explain to a three year old.

PJs and Trains

Andrew and I had a weekend to ourselves thanks to hunting season, and I thought that we could go and see the new Madagascar movie or go shopping in Wichita or something!! I asked Andrew about three times a day this past weekend, if he wanted to stay at his house or go somewhere (since we really didn't need anything and all I figured I would let him decide...). Well, we were lazy all weekend!! Andrew got in hours and hours with his train set, and I saw at least two lifetime movies...all in our pjs!
Sorry about the poor quality photo...I had to use my cell phone here since David had the camera in anticipation of taking a photo of a record-setting deer.

Cutie Pie

Mom: "Andrew, are you my cutie pie?"
Andrew: "No!"
Mom: "Andrew, are you my cutie pie?"
Andrew: "No!!"
Mom: "Andrew, are you my cutie pie?"
Andrew: "No!!!"
Mom: "Why not?"
Andrew: "Because, I am not pie!"

You need to take care of...

(Yesterday, I was hanging some clothes in my closet when I heard Andrew messing with things near my jewelry box...)
Mom: "Andrew, what are you doing in there?"
Andrew: "Momma, you need to worry about momma...not Andrew."
Mom: "Andrew, is that what your teacher tells you at school?"
Andrew: "Yes."
Mom: "Well, who is going to worry about Andrew if Momma can't?"
Andrew: "My teacher."

Halloween

Andrew's class made t-shirts to wear on Halloween day. Here is a picture of him before school on Friday. We took Andrew to trick or treat at the fire station. They gave him a tour and let him get in the fire truck. He also got his own special badge. I also included a picture of him trick or treating at our neighbors house...this was our first stop!
